Providing Educational and Vocational Scholarships for Sunnyside Employees and Their Children/Stepchildren

Our nonprofit organization raises funds through charitable donations and events open to the public, including an annual golf tournament and other social activities. The Fund bears the name of Steve Menchinella, who has served Sunnyside Country Club for 57 years as assistant golf professional, head golf professional, general manager and membership director, serving now in an emeritus status. Mr. Menchinella made a point of knowing all of the club’s employees personally and, whenever possible, helping employees and their families achieve their educational and vocational training goals.

Our goal in our first year is to award at least three scholarships, up to $7,500 each, in June of 2027, with a goal of six scholarships each year thereafter. Our Board of Directors is comprised of five members of Sunnyside Country Club, and two non-members selected from the educational and philanthropic communities. We are proud to carry on Steve’s legacy of caring for Sunnyside’s employees by providing needed financial support, on the basis of financial need and merit, to employees who meet minimum longevity and work hours requirements, and their dependents.
